 Hello Everyone, was sending out money to the MV student and decided to look through the guestbook. Still doing volunteer work for an equine stables, rescued 4 horses this year which have become part of the family now. My 2nd grandchild due in March 2003, my 18th yr old daughter leaving soon for the Army, and my husband is still working in law enforcement (25 years now). 2003 has already brought us health challenges and we hope with God's help to overcome them. I was only at Mar Vista for my freshman yr and first part of sophomore yr...Had a wonderful time!! The first friends I made were Penny Burwell and her brother Eric, I heard about Eric...so sad. Moved to Las Vegas almost a year ago, I'm a cocktail server at a local casino called green valley ranch in the "drop bar". I've recently changed my email address. For those of you that are familiar with me, I'm happy to report that I've been cancer free for the last year now. Lord knows that fighting it once was bad, but twice? That my friends is a tragedy. I'm still pursuing my degree in Paralegal Studies. I have one more year to go, and that will be it. I had the opportunity to talk with a fellow MVHS alum Gwen Goering here at the Kaiser facility and she gave me this website. HI, This is his daughter Renette writing in Regards to Carlos Montanez life. He graduated from Mar Vista High in 1969. He served as a United States Marine Sargeant from 1972-76 and continued in the reserves for 8 years after. Unfortunately he passed away September 23, 2002. Up until then he was an employee of the South Bay Union School District. He left behind a wife, 5 children, a step-daughter, and 6 grandchildren. My father will greatly be missed. He was a good man. CLASSES OF 1955 AND 1956--reunion on 9/21 and 9/22/02. We really had a good time. If you didn't attend, you missed out. It was great to see everyone. Dinner-dance at Bob's on the Bay was great. Henry, Many of the Mariners from the 50's and 60's might remember going to Downey California, to a place then called Harvey's Broiler (now Johnie's Broiler), to "cruise". My dad and uncles used to come up from I.B. just to cruise there. Well, the place has gone through some changes and the current owners (a car dealer) are going to demolish this cultural landmark. I was a junior in the 1954 and was married (Laters) I had to finish my high school credits at Sweetwater Adult School in the summer of 54 . I have lived in this area most of my life. Had a beautiful daughter! I have two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. I was a nurse and then went into Pathology and became a Histology Tech. something like CSI on TV. First, I was thrilled to see the the web page is adorned with with the log cover I helped pick out. I moved back to Chula Vista (with hesitation, not wanting to be a hacker) after living in North Carolina and Hawaii to finish school. In June 2002 I graduated from UCSD with a BA in history, with an emphasis on Europe. I have been to Germany and Spain, and can't wait to return to another part of Europe. My future plans are to be a high school social science teacher, and get a masters degree in history. I retain my married name of Morrow.
