Yes, it is sadly true. My brother Doug Blank (Class of 1975) died in his home on June 2, 2004 of a ruptured aorta. It was completely unexpected, and we had not a second's warning. His health was very good, and no one saw this coming. He leaves a lovely wife, Margot, and a sweet daughter, Kendal, age 9. Doug was a devoted family man who loved his family more than anything. He and Kendal were extremely close. Doug has been a practicing attorney for about 20 years with his own law firm, Blank and Associates. He lived in a beautiful home in Carmel Valley. Although very successful, Doug kept his easy-going, compassionate, and caring attitude. If you knew Doug, you remember him as a fun loving guy with a welcoming smile. He was huge Sports fan. This was consistent until the end. He didn't quite make one goal he had in life, which was to own the San Diego Padres. We are all sure he would have gotten to that had he had more time. Doug was a fun loving and sweet guy who seemed to keep most every friend he ever made. His services were on June 6--which would have been his 47th birthday. I would guess there were almost 300 people in attendance. As his sister, I didn't even realize how loved and admired he was by so many people. My parents, my brother, Steve and myself can hardly count the number of people who have told us that Doug was the nicest guy they ever met. We don't know how we are going to go on without him. His sense of humor, his smile, and the love he spread everywhere he went will always be sweet memories. We will love you forever Doug, and we can't wait to see you again in God's paradise. It was such a treat to see the pics from the 2001 reunion.. It was sad to see the names of those who are gone. It is strange to think that we are now in our mid-fifties. Been married almost 37 years, two beautiful daughters, three adorable grandsons,,, holding out for a granddaughter... Still working as an RN, Terry is only a couple years from retirement and then I get to "retire" also. Will then work from "home", our 31 ft RV. Will stay in Wisconsin with one daughter in summer and in Texas in the Winter, traveling in between.
