The newspaper made an error in listing "Alvin and the
Chipmunks", it should have been a PG rating, not PG13. Lots of people
complained so they got that straightened out. I wish we would have taken
the grandkids to that movie instead of "The Princess and the Frog." It
scared the snot out of them. At 3, 4 & 5 years of age, they were too
young for the black evilness of the movie. There is A LOT of voodoo and
witchcraft in the movie. We didn't think twice about taking them because
it had a G rating. The grandbabies will be using nightlights for awhile
I'm afraid. |

Sherlock Holmes was alot of fun! Robert Downey Jr is
exquisite in every movie he makes and Rachel McAdams is very, very easy on
the eyes.
The cinematography is awesome and the plot is well laid
out. For 2 hours and $6.25 it was very well worth the
money! |

Mike and I want to take the grandchildren to the movies
tomorrow afternoon so we were looking for children's movies appropriate
for ages 3-5. The new Alivn & the Chimpmunk movie is out and thought
they might like that. We can't take them...it actually has a PG13 rating.
Good grief! Looks like it will be "The Princess and the
Frog." |

We just keep ours for the

visual masterpiece. I have never in my life had my breath basically taken

The big problem I have with Terminator movies these days
is that it's now a franchise.
Sarah Conner and John Conner can
never truly defeat the Terminators. You just know in the end that somehow
they missed something, that they can't prevent that future from happening.
There always has to be that next part of the war because they need to make
a sequel or a TV show.
Not that they don't have good special
effects and action. But storywise, my view of it overall is jaded knowing
that everything is structured to make sure that they can keep the
continuation of the cyborgs' existence viable. |

I get VERY, VERY uncomfortable watching shows that are

The movie 2012 can come true any minute... we have a SUPER
VOLCANO right here in California.. Yellowstone Park. And it is due to
erupt. And the movie 2012 will be the results... pretty much the end of
the world.
Part of my wants to see the movie 2012... and part of me
is scared shitless. I really, really, hope I die of cancer or a heart
attack before the "end of times".. and there WILL be an "end of times".
It's not a matter of "IF".. it's a matter of

I'm not sure it should be called a "B" movie though because
the set decoration and special effects were 1st class.
There is no
action or horror or stuff like that. It's kinda a mystery in the first
half and very, very thought provoking in the second half.
If you
like to watch a meaty movie once in a while you will LOVE it. I don't
think I can give you the plot without giving it away.

Finally got to see Drag Me to Hell since it's now on DVD.
Very much has the kind of humor I'd expect of any horror movie Sam
Raimi is involved with. Has the kind of gross out effects you'd expect of
KNB that harkens back to the old campy effects you got with old school
horror.
Unlike the more recent crop of extreme mutilation movies,
this one is basically done for thrills from the old lady attempting to gum
the protagonist's face to those unexpected moments where the unseen menace
suddenly pops up for a cheap scare.
It doesn't take itself too
seriously, doesn't turn too dark, but does have its moments and doesn't
try to turn it into a complete spoof of the genre. |

Let's look at the track record of some of the women he's
known to have dated. One was working as their nanny while he was married.
Sorry, but I find it sleazy to be party to breaking up a marriage before
anyone even files for divorce. The women then went on to grant an
interview to air their dirty laundry.
Another was a tabloid
reporter, who later came forward and complained about how secretive the
guy was, the measures he'd have her to through to ensure they didn't get
caught. Funny, for someone that was so resentful of all this, by her own
words, she didn't seem to have any trouble going along with his requests.
And again, sleazy to run out and start granting interviews to divulge
details of their relationship. A woman that knowingly engages in a sexual
relationship with a man married with children has no place trying to make
the man out to be the only dirtbag in this situation.
One of his
more recent girlfriends is reportedly calling around trying to use the
quasi-celebrity status of being a part of this horrible mess to procure
freebies: free clothes, free jewelry, free food delivered to her
home.
They may all be the salt of the earth. But somehow, those
actions suggest "skank" isn't too far off for them to
me. |

Maybe I don't know what a "skank" is. I didn't think it
had anything to do with "looks/beauty".. I thought it had to do with
behavior.
In other words... I think Britney Spears is a hot looking
girl... but because of her behavior I would have thought she would be
called a skank.
What I'm saying is... I thought a skank was was a
cheap, slut... not necessarily a bad/ugly looking woman.
Is the
woman that dated the wife murderer Drew Peterson a skank? She didn't know
he was married... and she didn't know he killed his wife.
I read
that Cleopatra was a GORGEOUS woman... but I think because of her
behavior, today she would be called a skank.
What do you think?
what is a "skank" to you? educate
me.

People like Jay Leno who call Jon's dates "skanks".. well

obviously like him and date him... but they have to suffer the slings and

I have no doubts that Kate Gosselin was an overbearing
shrew. I'm sure had I made the mistake of marrying her, no matter how much
money I would have to give up, even if it meant renting out a basement and
eating off a hot plate, it would have been well worth the
freedom.
Difference with a guy like Jon Gosselin is he decided he's
moving on well before a divorce ever took place.
So again, why
would a decent woman want to date the guy? The premise is pretty simple,
horrible wife or not he made a marriage vow, "better or for worse" and
when things got bad, he decided it was time to screw the nanny. A marriage
vow and his family is not motivation enough to keep him faithful.
If he'd waited until they were legally separated or divorce papers
were finally filed, it would have been a different matter. Go be a horn
dog, either find romance or just have fun with all the women you want.
Hopefully women that know how to be discreet and aren't calling these
sleazy tabloids because they just rode Space Mountain with a quasi
celebrity.
I think so far, he's using the same judgment he utilized
when he thought Kate was the one for him. |

Yep... I judge too.
But I think the difference
between you righteous a-holes and me is... I don't judge morality.
What I judge is civil behavior. In other words what is best for
our community/clan that makes a peaceful, happy, survivable society....
our society makes laws for the benefit of our community to survive and
prosper... morality is another animal.
Not that morality doesn't
play a part. I'm pretty confident that our "Founding Fathers".. as moral
and religious as they were, knew that morality should not be included in
the constitution.
In fact most of our founding fathers were not as
moral as you might believe. And because they were not as moral as you
might think they created a document (the constitution) that didn't govern
morality...

Leno's joke sounds pretty disrespectful to women, however,
why would any decent woman date John Gosselin?
Maybe "skank" isn't
so horrible a description to base some of Gosselin's past mistresses. Why
not call into question the character of anyone that would knowingly go
into a sexual relationship with a married man.
This is a guy that
dated the nanny. He's a failure for cheating on his wife like that, but
the nanny is equally culpable. She's an adult, she knew who he was, knew
he was married, has a family, yet still engaged in this morally
reprehensible behavior. I would imagine the nanny also made a pretty buck
going to one of the tabloids to give an interview.
One of his more
recent flings involved a woman rumored to be having her friends and family
trying to exploit, on her behalf and for her benefit, the popularity of
being in the middle of this mess.
It seems he's been picking some
women that look to profit from their relationship with this still married
man. |

I loved Bubba Ho-Tep. I believe it was written by one of
the bigger names in horror fiction, Joe Lansdale.
One of the
really funny parts of the DVD was the audio commentary track as narrated
by the old Elvis character in the movie, all done in character of
course.
I heard a couple years ago they were working on a sequel,
not sure if that ever happened though.
Bruce Campbell tends to be
in the campier B-movie stuff, but tends to be in the better projects of
that ilk. |

I second or third that.
I LUB me some horror/scary
movies best of all. But I don't likes the blood and guts.
I saw
"Hostel".. but was not interested in seeing Hostel II.. I saw the firs Saw
movie but was not interested in Saw II, III or IIII.
I likes scary
movies.. but you can take the blood and guts somewhere else.
I was
watching a horror movie last night.. and this has happened in many, many
main stream movies.. where they show someone putting a needle in someone's
arm. I cant even take that, I have to close my eyes.
Scare me
please.. but the graphic blood and guts you can leave to the jack-ass
viewers.

As all of you know by now.. I watch a lot of movies. I am
currently subscribed to Netflix and Blockbuster for movie deliveries. And
I pirate movies off the internet.
In other words I watch a LOT of
movies. Including a TON of "B" movies. Every once in a while I find a good
"B" movie.
If you are a movie fanatic like me.. then I would
recommend you check out a "B" movie entitled "Bubba Ho-Tep". Yeah I know
it sounds weird.. and guess what, it is weird.
Without giving it
away.. it's about a guy that thinks he is Elvis Presley (or is he the real
thing?).. and he's living in an old folks home. And strange things start
happening.. like bug/monster things. It's a hoot.. tongue in cheek. I
recommend it.

I guess I was over hyped... not quite as
good as I thought it was going to be.. but still good, just different..
very different.
The lead character did an outstanding job. Some
times you dislike him and some time you like him. I think the lead actor
is worthy of Oscar consideration, IMO.
I recommend it.
By
the way... I went to see it Monday morning at 11am.. the first showing.
Usually there are only 3 or 4 people in the theater on a Monday morning.
But the theater was at least 75% full. WOWZERS.. very
unusual.

The bashing of Mickey Rourke is really uncalled for. Some
people run across tough times in thier lives only to learn from them and
come back even stronger.
His boxing days was something he had to do
to try and pay his bills and the result was years of beatings to his face
thus making him very uncomfortable and it's hard for him to even talk
about now.
The Wrestler wasa fantastic movie filled with emotion
and desperation. He played it just the same way he has tackled everything
in his life, with courage and determination. |

This latest season of Smallville has been one of their
best so far. Getting rid of the Lana Lang character helped a lot, though
the loss of Lex Luthor hurt.
The resolution of the Doomsday
storyline was a bit of a flop for me. The ending itself surprised me. I
guess at some point, they decided the Smallville storylines will have to
veer significantly from the more current comic book and movie mythos.
Seems like they'd written themselves into a corner in some respects that
would make it tough to ever transition smoothly into the Superman everyone
knows.
I suppose part of the way things ended might have come from
the surprise of being renewed for another season.
I've seen better
season finales for the show. This one wasn't too bad, but not great and
had me wondering what they're doing with some of these
decisions. |

Regarding the Megan Fox video:
You don't want to
believe that Mother Nature rules.. but she does. The "hip to waist ratio"
of the female sends a primordial signal to the male.
1) a small
waist and flat stomach says that the female is not carrying another males
child
2) the full hips signal that she is of breeding age and can
produce HIS offspring.
I know you think I make this stuff up... but
I don't. I know, I know, I'm outta control. But I'm just telling the
truth. I know I'm not politically correct or delicate... and that will
always get me in trouble.. oh well...
lol

I have a question for you girls.
I watch a LOT of
horror movies.. my favorite genre. And it's a FACT that when a monster is
chasing you, you ALWAYS trip and fall.. and even if you make it to the
car, you caint find your keys and even if you do you cant start the car...
what the hell is up with that!!!
Any other time you can run... any
other time you can start the car... but if a monster is chasing you, you
turn into a mentally challenged retard.. I don't get
it!!

They have played that Bale rant like 20 times on various
TV shows and there's not alot to it. In fact the incident was blown out of
context and those guys went out parting after that shoot.
The movie
will make a ton of $$$ but won't come near what the next Transformer's
movie will make just from guy's wanting to see Megan Fox
again!:) |

I really hope that when they release the Terminator:
Salvation movie on DVD, one of the bonus features on the Special Edition
includes audio of him going bonkers on one of the production guys between
takes.
Extra bonus if they have actual video footage to go along
with the meltdown.
The movie could stink and I'd still buy the DVD
just to have that gem. I'm sure right about now, Tom Cruise is thankful
for Christian Bale coming along to replace his spot as oddest guy in
blockbuster movies for the time being. |

Read somewhere that all the boxing he did a few years ago

to get back into movies. Supposedly his face was almost unrecognizable at

It was

The ONLY

Kirk and

Yep, it was GREAT.
The audience clapped when the
first view of the Enterprise was shown... and there were a few other
applauses during the movie as well as at the end.
Trekies will just
LOVE it because of the character development. The young actors NAILED the
personalities of the original Star Trek crew.
But, non-trekies will
like it too. Just not as much if they don't know the original
characters.

As I have said several times on this board (just my
opinion)... Reeves couldn't act his way into high school play.
As
far as I'm concerned he has only made ONE decent movie. It was a LONG time
ago where he played some kind of government dude infiltrating a surfer
drug or crime thing.
He always plays the character as you said, no
matter what! "No emotion or facial expressions and mono-tone".

That character Reeves played was laughable! Any human
being alive could have played that part. No emotion or facial expressions
and mono-tone voice throughout the whole flop.
And don't get me
started on Kathie Bates as the Sec of defense..Oh my God! I couldn't take
how unbelievable she was. |

I mean what a perfect part for Keanu, an alien robot type person. :) Story
line was good even though it didnt follow the original at all, graphics
and FX was pretty good. Oh well! |

Nascar is on the Talley TV. There's Jo in her favorite
chair wearing her numbered T shirt and a helmet. Her husband has installed
a seat belt and a shoulder harness in the chair so Jo won't fall out. He
has also taken the steering wheel off a little childs car and installed it
on the arm rest. It swings across in front of Jo and locks in place. The
steering wheel will only turn to the left. When the race is over Jo is
exhausted and has to be lifted out of the chair/race car and be carried to
the couch. |

theater from maybe age 20's to 60's. One couple had brought their 2 kids
under age 10. They walked out 30 minutes into the film. Duh! Served them
right, the idiots, for not checking into the rating and reviews before
they brought theier kids to an R rated movie. These movies made from
graphic novels are mostly for ADULTS, some are very dark, bloody and
sexual as this one was. One of the characters was completely nude through
out the whole movie with full frontal shots. Fine for adults but
definately not for kids. |

"War of the Worlds.... not only were the special effects fantastic for the
day... but it had that scene where the Catholic Priest got incinerated by
the ray gun.
In my life/memory up to that time I had never seen a
priest get killed. It was against all the rules.. it was sacrilegious..
and it shocked the hell out of me... that movie scared the beejesus out of

Actually, it still is a very scary

hahahaha both you guys are wrong. Read
below.
Buddy Ebsen began his career as a dancer in the late
1920s in a Broadway chorus. He later formed a vaudeville act with his
sister Vilma Ebsen, which also appeared on Broadway. In 1935 he and his
sister went to Hollywood, where they were signed for the first of MGM's
Eleanor Powell movies, Broadway Melody of 1936 (1935). While Vilma retired
from stage and screen shortly after this, Buddy starred in two further MGM
movies with Powell. Two of his dancing partners were Frances Langford in
Born to Dance (1936) and Judy Garland in Broadway Melody of 1938 (1937).
They were a little bit taller than Shirley Temple, with whom he danced in
Captain January (1936). MGM studio chief Louis B. Mayer offered him an
exclusive contract in 1938, but Ebsen turned it down. In spite of Mayer's
warning that he would never get a job in Hollywood again, he was offered
the role of the scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz (1939). Ebsen agreed to
change roles with Ray Bolger, who was cast as the Tin Man. Ebsen
subsequently became ill from the silver make-up, however, and was replaced
by Jack Haley. He returned to the stage, making only a few pictures before
he got a role in the Disney production of Davy Crockett, King of the Wild
Frontier (1955). After this, he became a straight actor, and later won
more fame in his own hit series, "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1962) and
"Barnaby Jones" (1973).

If you get nervous and tense at scary movies then I
suggest you stay home and don't go near "The Last House On The Left".
This one one of the best re-makes of a horror classic that I ave
ever seen and I have seen them all.
Very well acted and very well
written it will nail you to your seat and make you hope you didn't forget
to wear your clinical strengh deoderant.
Whatever you do , STAY
TILL THE COMPLETE END!! Don't get up and leave when you think it might be

theme song. Boy, brings back memories. I wonder if anyone remembers a
dance show in San Diego in about 57 or 58 era. It was broadcast from
Channel 8 and I can't remember the host's name..maybe Don something. My

Well... dudes buy or rent movies... then copy them and
upload them to the internet for other people to download.
Of
course movies in the theater have not went to DVD yet... so guys go into
the theater with their video camera and tape the movie. Then they upload
it to the internet so other dudes can download and watch them.
Then
some dudes are able to get what are called "screeners". Where movie
studies put their new movies on DVD and give copies to special people for
screening (review). Those are the best for new movies in the theater
because they are DVD quality.
Did I lose you..

The problem
is... the movies that are in theaters have not been released on DVD.
So, some guy goes into the theater with his camcorder and video
tapes the movie. I can pirate and watch any movie that's in the theater.
But those movies are usually very poor quality because they are shot on
some guys camcorder... so I don't usually bother with
them.

If you meant to say that you "assumed" that someone said

someone said something not so nice? Especially when you admit you have not
read the relevent posts. People don't leave for no reason? Possibly so
but did it occur to you that people might leave for petty reasons? I
still suggest that you go back and read the posts that started this and

Hey you big dufus. There are a myriad of reasons why
people chose to post anonymously.
Many of which have nothing to do
with "hiding behind their skirt".
Some people post anonymously
because they don't want their wife/hubby to read their post... some people
post anonymously because they don't want to attract a stalker... some
people post anonymously because they want to express a word/point to a
friend that they don't want to lose... some people post anonymously
because they have a view that is just different then main stream and don't
want vilified for it.... and yes, some people just don't want to get
beat-up by a bully... in other words, there are many, many reasons people
chose to post anonymously.
One of the reasons that these chat
boards are so popular is that you don't have to register.. you can be as
anonymous as you want to be. I like it that way, and will keep it that way
as long as possible.

Henry knows the difference between movies and acting and
the real life actions of certain movie stars. Your post makes no
sense. Henry just refuses to support those actors/actresses that have
left wing ideas or are hippocrites like Penn is and Henry has so aptly
illustrated. Henry's actions have nothing to do with the quality of
their acting. Your post gives the impression that you believe that when
Penn cavorts with anti-Americans he is just acting. I don't think he is.
The guy is a great actor but he is a jerk and I wouldn't piss on him if he
were on fire. Nice going Henry. |

I'm curious to see how the final cut of the Watchmen movie
comes out and how it stands on its own. I read the comic books years ago
when they first came out, still remember the story. I don't expect some of
the specific nuances to remain as the comic book had a lot of subtexts
involving the history of the comic book industry, which was on the verge
of artistic and financial ruin at the time.
I guess it should be
entertaining as a stand-alone murder mystery. As far as the super hero
genre goes, Watchmen was revolutionary for its time. But in the 20+ years
since its publication, it has been copied so much that those who
experience Watchmen for the first time these days don't see anything
special about it at all.
The Dr. Manhattan scenes ought to look
amazing with the level of CGI these days. Would have hated seeing the end
result of such a movie ten years ago. |

The directing is so bad I don't

I left before the movie was over. I think I saw about 3/4 of

Watched Babylon A. D. last night with Vin Diesel. It was
ok, I can't stand Vin Diesel so that might have had something to do with
the fact that I wasn't to thrilled. The story line was pretty good as far
as apocolyptic flicks go. Why did I watch this? My kid told me to. :)

I saw Eagle Eye about a month ago.
It was pretty
unbelievable as far as a plot goes... but I did enjoy
it.

Watched Eagle Eye last night with Shia LeBeouf (?) and it
was GREAT!!! Non stop action from the first frame. This kid is really good
and is going to be IMO one of the great actors of this century.
Recommended for anyone over 13 as it is hard to
follow. |

Know this is a movie board not for books but I just read
The Road by Cormac McCarthy and WOW!! I think I am somewhat late in
discovering this author but it was a good read. Am buying all MCarthy's
books. I think The Road was also a movie but am afraid to see if they
butchered the book. Anyone else read? |

I said I tried to watch "Righteous Kill" but it bored me for

ending is a big surprise.... I liked it.
I recommend
it.

If you want to see a movie that baffles you to the end as
far as who is the psycho killer go see Righteous Kill with DeNiro and Al
Pachino. Great movie, super performances as those two are two of the
greatest actors living. Also saw the 3rd Mummy movie with Brendon Frasier,
slept through half ot it. Ok but need I say more. |

it because there's nothing else to do back there or are you just a big

ago? |

Oh... bye the way. I just remembered...
The name of
the first movie I saw Jim Carrey in was called "Once Bitten" (1985). It
was before he started his stupid schtick.
If I can find the movie
and download it, I'll post a couple of clips from
it.

Yeah.. I agree. Carrey is not too bad when he's in a
serious or semi serious role.
When he sticks to a script instead of
making what he thinks is funny faces, he's not too bad.
In other
words, in the right role he's tolerable.. can even be
likeable.

I have a movie too recommend... but it was before your

"Outland".
You remember that movie you liked called 3:10 to Yuma?
Well, this is just like that 'escept it takes place in outer space on a
space station. It's a "guy flick" with Sean Connery.
I just watched
it again last night. It's in my video library. I think you might like
it... you big PUTZ!

Watched Pineapple Express (I think that was the name) last
night and though it will never win an award it was funny in SOME parts.
Just couldnt see James Franco playing the role of a stoner. Any potheads
left over from the 60's should love it. A modern Cheech and
Chong. |

Sorry dude... I don't really care for physical (slap
stick) comedy. I've never found Carrey funny. His shtick is stupid, lame
and unfunny. More for a 6 yr old then an adult.
His personal life
has nothing to do with his work. It's his work I cant stand.
The
only movie he has done that I kinda liked was one of his first, if not his
first where he played a teenager in a vampire comedy. But this was before
he was his doing his "schtick".

Jim Carrey is not going anywhere! He is a great father and
husband to Jenny McCarthy's autistic son and raises huge amounts of money
and spends a ton of personal time on this issue.
Plus he's
halarious! I watch old clips of 'In Living Color' and cannot stop
laughing. |
